OUR PATREON FAMILY

Hi there! This is Jieun & Greg, and we want to thank you for your interest in financially supporting us and the work we do — our art, our music, our podcast, our blog, our Gajok community, our social media posts, and our advocacy for the Korean American and Asian American communities.

If you find value in the art that we create and the work that we do, invest in us financially by becoming a Jieun & Greg Family member on Patreon at: patreon.com/jieunandgreg.

Asking you to financially support us and our work is our way of honoring the value of our work, our time, and our labor — physical, mental, and emotional — as independent artists, and for me, as an independent Asian American artist. It’s our way of honoring ourselves.

Independent artists are very rarely adequately compensated for their work — if they are even compensated at all — especially women within the Asian American / POC community. In order to continue the work that Greg and I do, we need to be adequately financially supported.

Art is labor.
Emotional labor is labor.
Writing is labor.

I want to normalize the idea of paying artists, musicians, and creators for the work they do and the work they create.

By signing up to support us on Patreon, you are honoring us, as people and artists. You are giving us the ability to continue creating meaningful art, for ourselves, the Korean American community, the Asian American community, and the world. You are giving us the ability to create safe spaces for Korean American women, like our monthly Gajok Gatherings. You are allowing us to create safe spaces for Asian Americans, through my blog and my podcast, Gajok.

By supporting us on Patreon, you are giving us the ability to sustainably continue the work that we do, and want to continue doing, for the Asian and Korean American communities — through our writing, our art, and our music.

Greg and I have been using Patreon to receive support from our friends and supporters since 2017, and as of May 2022, we have 62 Patrons, and we are earning $1,012 in monthly income from Patreon.

Our goal is to earn $4,000 in monthly income from Patreon by the end of 2022. Our dream is to become fully financially sustainable as creators.

Our dream is to not be starving artists anymore. Our dream is to be able to take care of my immigrant parents. Our dream is to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Your monthly support would help make all of that a reality for us.
